Railfan Technology > Nikon D5600 opinions.

Does anyone own a Nikon D5600? I bought one off Ebay and have not received it yet. I already own a D60 with a 70-300mm lense. I've really had good luck with that D60. Any comments welcome, thanks.

D60 is a relic.  Expect much bigger file size and more options(complicted).  Only a mid range camera but after D60 sb a big step up.
Opinions??  Horse has left the barn??  Have fun with it, might want to think abut new lens.  Not sure which 70-30 you have but some are not that great.
If you don't have, Nikon makes an inexpensive 50mm 1.8 which gives you some low light capability and a little wider view.  That crop sensor at 70 mm is really a mid telephoto and very limiting

Also Nikon makes a sweet, inexpensive 35 mm 1.8 that acts like a classic 50mm on the crop sensor. Very nice lens for the classic “normal” perspective with good low light capability.

I think this is the right idea. PRetty inexpensive maybe $200 right?

D5600 is a great camera and really all that's needed for many railfan shooters. When you start getting to the multi-thousand-dollar cameras, you're only adding something that the top third (or less) of photographers need: extreme low-light performance, weather sealing, specialized flash synch, etc. The D60 still has value, however, as it's CCD-based sensor is prized for its color rendition and still useful for studio work. So if you have a notion that people photography is in your future, read up on some photography websites before you decide to ditch the elder camera.
