Railfan Technology > New Ektachrome?

The thread about current slide shooters on 4/25 got me to wondering. I too still shoot slides (Provia 100 ever since the end of Kodachrome) with SLRs made in 1969 and 1970. My question is: I keep hearing about Kodak's new Ektachrome, but nobody I've talked to seems to have actually seen it or the results of its use. Has anyone one TO had any experience with it? I don't really see any reason to change from Provia as long as it's available, but it would be nice to know about other options (and heaven knows there aren't many). 

Just my 2 cents, keep using Fuji. When I was shooting Kodachrome back when and Fuji came out, I switched and I liked it better and faster speed to boot.

A fellow fan has been testing some since January. He's been shooting Provia since the origianl Ektachrome was discontinued. I've see some of his results with the new stuff and and to me, it doesn't have the slight blue cast of the older Ektachrome. I would say it's saturation is not as profound as Fuji, but then nothing looks as over-saturated as some Fuji transparency film does to me. I would say give it try and see what you think.  As always, "your mileage may vary".

Interesting. I was beginning to wonder if it actually even existed.
I shot Ektachrome for a couple years in the early 1970s, and I remember disliking the bluish effect which apparently is now gone. I wonder how the processed slides will hold up over time; I've seen quite a few old ones that ended up pink after a few decades.

Same E-6 processing as Fuji. Don't know why there would be any differance in longevity.

I was comparing old Ektachrome to Kodachrome.
