OT, Steam program

A bit OT, but I have the Steam Version of Flightsim X installed and after changing web browsers to Chrome it won't log in and run. Hadn't used it in quite awhile and I can't find the run offline setting either. Googled several blogs, etc without luck on a solution. Short of totally removing and starting from scratch (if that's possible) any suggestions are welcome. OS is Win8.
