Railfan Technology > OM-1 train detectionDate: 02/15/22 11:27 OM-1 train detection Author: clem Reviews are out for the Olympus OM-1. No, not that OM-1. The new mirrorless, 4/3 OM-1. Found in one review: "OM says that its [...] algorithms [...] now detect cars, airplanes and trains on top of people, birds and animals." I'm not about to trading in my current system, but it's nice that they thought of us railfans.

The Nikon Z9 full frame mirrorless camera released at the end of October, 2021, also has a "vehicle detection" algorithm that will detect and lock focus on planes, trains, and automobiles. I've read that it's designed to lock focus and track the front of a moving locomotive, as long as the locomotive remains anywhere within the frame/viewfinder. Priced at $5,500.
