Uniden BC125AT trouble
Author: ATSF160

Hey all,

I am currently using the afore-mentioned scanner, but yesterday I did *something* and cannot figure out how to get it undone.

I must have inadvertently hit a button, or combination of buttons, whereas now all my channels are locked, even upon startup. I even tried taking batteries out, and let it sit for a while before restarting.

Any ideas how to get back to normal? And, will I need to re-program everything?

thanks!

If you used a PC to program it, then I would just reprogram it.

If you manually entered in all your frequencies, here are the instructions from the manual (page 47) to unlock one or all channels.

Are you saying the keyboard is locked?
In other words [ushing the buttons and nothing is hapening but the display shows the scanner operating.

It isn't all that hard to get to that state if you select a bank to scan that has no frequencies assigned.  Easy to correct when you realize it by just selecting another bank.

The keys work fine. I can activate/deactivate banks too. But when I
get to Bank 4, where my RR channels are, it says all channels locked.

I tried this to unlock the entire bank. Then when I hit the scan button,
ot still tells me all channels locked. Even though I confimed Unlock All
Channels?

So, after several weeks of messing with this scanner, I just bought another one.

And when I turned on the new one, I got the exact message: All Channels Locked

So, I went back and read you guys' responses again, and concluded that somehow I had erased all my programmed channels, so there was nothing there, just like the new scanner. I guess I had dismissed that idea, as how the heck would THAT happen???

So now both scanners are re-programmed (at least RR freqs) and scanning their little diodes away.

Thanks again for all the help.....See you by the tracks!

See page 36 from the BC-125AT manual, quoted below:

Resetting the Scanner Warning: Resetting the scanner clears all data and settings you have entered. You cannot restore user programmed data that has been deleted. You can, at a last step, restore only the original factory data.
1. Press and hold the 2, 9, and Hold keys and turn on the scanner.
2. The scanner clears all data and returns to the initial setting. All Memory Clear displays.

A friend once has his scanner reset itself.  He later found out that a drop of the scanner had caused a bunch of keys to stick in the "pressed" position. When he turned on the scanner, it reset itself.  Also, though rare, a strong static electricity shock introduced into the scanner scan cause it to reset.  Way back when, I had this happen to a old Bearcat 100-channel portable scanner.
