Can anyone recommend  aa good choice for a power adapter for the Uniden BC125AT scanner. I have seen so many types listed that hopefully someone can provide some solid information for getting one. Thanks!

^Well, I posted on this long ago, but it bears repeating.  I do not trust the external power/charging circuitry in the BC-125AT.  Several years ago, the factory Bearcat charger/adapter overcharged the rechargeable batteries in my BC-125AT scanner to the point that the damned thing could have started a house fire had I not smelled the hot plastic of the radio case.  When I unplugged the cable, the radio case was so hot that one couldn't touch it.  Amazingly, the radio survived.  I still have the radio and I still use it on occasion, but the case still has a big deformed bubble in it from that incident.  Since then, I have NEVER charged the batteries in the radio, nor used the adapter to power it.  Isolated incident?  I can't say for sure, but I definitely would not trust the BC-125AT to be plugged into an adapter/charger unless the radio was where I was awake and close to it to monitor its charging behavior.  In my ownership and use of likely close to at least 50 different portable radios over the past 30 years, the BC-125AT is the only one that so dangerously malfunctioned when being charged.

No, not an isolated incident. I had a similar thing happen to me, and think I also previously posted to that effect. I didn't get close to a meltdown, but I knew as warm as it had become that something was not right. Never used the charger since. I have used regular AA batteries, or rechargeable AA cells with their own separate external charger. Works fine - frankly better. not just as regards to avoiding the overheating, but the internal charger was quite slow to boot. The contacts for the batteries are on the chintzy side and not too strong, so you have to use a little care changing batteries. But if you do that the removable batteries will be fine.

I like my BC125AT, have gotten great service out of it, and still use it. Works just fine for my needs. But I'll never go back to using any built-in charging capacity.

Recharge batteries, charger with two sets of batteries.
