Kodak Film 100 and 200 ASA - Any Takers-?
Author: cozephyr

Kodak has announced releasing film directly to retailers like B&H of their 100 and 200 Kodachrome print film.  Anyone taking them up on these 36-exposure rolls-?

Eastman Kodak has continued to manufacture film in the digital era, but during bankruptcy proceedings in 2013, Kodak Alaris became an entirely separate entity. Through the years, Eastman Kodak has continued to manufacture film, but Kodak Alaris was the exclusive distributor, selling the film to retailers. Eastman Kodak manufactures the film for still photography, as well as film for video, but Kodak Alaris was the exclusive distributor for Kodak-branded still photo film.

The Kodacolor 100 and Kodacolor 200 are the first films that Eastman Kodak has sold directly to distributors, rather than through the separate Kodak Alaris, in more than a decade. The launch isn’t necessarily a “new” film, however.  Per a Instagram post, Kodak notes that “these films are sub-brands of existing Kodak films and offer the same high quality you’ve come to expect from Kodak.”

Would be fun to buy a roll or two and dust off the old film SLR for my son.
But I wonder how much it would cost these days to get it developed and printed?  Its not like I can just drop it off at the Fotomat kiosk.

I think the poster meant Kodacolor print film rather than Kodachrome. I believe that it is no longer possible to have Kodachrome processed. More info would be welcome.

You might do Kodachrome in regular chemistry if you are willing to accept very weird results....and you still have to strip the special layer....and it will poison your C41 chemisty. And you still might not get a usable image....

fwiw here's B&H website for Film, they have Fuji processing listed under Film Accessories:

If you don't know already B&H is extremely proficeint in the general world of Photography and PhotoJournalism, they are located deep in New York City.

There was a recent local TV presentation about a small film developing Lab in San Jose near the San Jose State University. Most of their work was with the Photography Department and various Student assignments. The website was posted here and also shows up on a Google search pretty quick.

I only found Fuji Processing mailers for Transparency films (i.e. E-6 processing for slide film) and Ilford processing mailers for B&W film. No C-41 mailers for color negative film.

Walgreen's and Walmart still send out film for developing and scanning. Relatively cheap, but the scans are low resolution and DAMMIT they don't return your negatives.

There are many places that will develop and optionally scan your film. Maximum scan size seems to be about 20 Megapixels. If you scan yourself you can save some money. I use a Nikon ES-2 with the 60mm/2.8 Micro Nikkor and either my D850 or D810. Not much difference between the two cameras, but the D850 does have the option of conversion of the negative to a positive image and saved as a JPG. I shoot RAW and convert to a positive in Darktable (Negadoctor module - https://youtu.be/On3BqhXYJM0?si=0dwCZGGyZUfk5ZZ2). YMMV
