Railfan Technology > iOS version of Railfan Copilot available

The iOS version of the previously only Android app is now available at this link iOS Railfan Copilot.  The link takes you to the app store, https://apps.apple.com/app/railfan-copilot/id6770344908. It takes 24-48 hours for a new apps to appear in the app store search results.

With the iOS version comes improvements to both the Android and iOS versions. The biggest improvement is the community sharing of live train sightings across platforms. This should allow for better tracking of live trains as more users come online. The radius for this is set to a maximum of 999 miles so there would be plenty of heads up on trains headed to your particular area.

I tried the Apple App Store and could not find it listed with a search for Railfan Copilot (iOS)?

Any suggestions?

It's my understanding that apps available in the App Store have been vetted  by Apple. I am reluctant to install an IOS app not available in the Store.

Just went to google store and downloaded the app the other night  for android phones.
Yes it is available for Android in the Google store.. I have it on my phone.

I installed the app and bought the Pro version, but I don't see any info on freight trains on the map.  Recognizing that American freight RRs keep that info as tightly held as possible, what is the prospect for freight info on the app?

Thanks so much for the support!You’re absolutely right — the railroads keep freight tracking locked down. That means the only real way to build a useful picture of train movements is through the community. When people enter sightings, those reports help everyone else see what’s moving. You can view them on the map by selecting All + Sightings, or in the Community & Safety tab.I’ve added some sightings myself, though they’re mostly from SW Missouri. Depending on where you are, they may show up on your map.There was a bug that kept sightings from showing across devices and users, but that’s now fixed. I’ve also opened up all Pro features for a 7‑day free trial, since storing and syncing this data takes server resources.
