W980-08 on the bridge at Jennings Randolph Lake near Elk Garden, WV. The train would make Mt. Storm later around lunch time. Once at the Mt. Storm Power Station the transformer was unloaded and placed on a special lowbody / Prime Mover combination and taken over the road to it's final destination.

At this point, I was running out of time and had to head to work....

My favorite image is your last one with the whole train on the bridge.
Thanks for sharing these.

Nicely done like the move to Bayard to pick up the old generator you recently posted. That area is so remote now compared to 100 years ago when every curve of the railroad had a coal mine and a village to support it. Thanks,
Gonut

How much coal goes up to the Mt Storm power station any more? Is the sub in daily service?

Mt Storm typically receives 20 trains a month, right now that number is less due to the mild winter we have had. The Mettiki Coal mine is shipping 2 -3 trains a week of export coal.

And all Western Maryland fans are happy that there is still traffic over this line.
