Date: 07/12/19 17:42 Re: 70th Anniversary of the Broadway Limited Author: agentatascadero It took me quite a while to get around to looking it up, but I have not been satisfied with the "70th anniversary" monkier..........anniversary of what, I ask? The famous PRR train of that name ran from 1912 to 1995, 83 years by my count. Today would be the 107th anniversary of the inaguration of the train. It turns out the anniversry is of the 1949 re-equipping of the 1938 streamlined train. Hopefully one or more of the cars utilized will be from that 1949 edition.
It is a classy little "train", should be a great ride for the participants. AA Stanford White Carmel Valley, CA Date: 07/12/19 17:54 Re: 70th Anniversary of the Broadway Limited Author: CP412 All three cars were delivered in 1949.

The 70th anniversary was how the weekend excursion with the private cars was advertised and marketed. I stuck with that moniker for purposes of consistency. And, yes, it should be a great trip for everyone on board. Edited 1 time(s). Last edit at 07/13/19 03:35 by birdman. They were together on the last Hoosier State trip to Chicago two weeks ago (6/30). (They were left in Chicago when the Hoosier State left town that evening.)

The Catalpa Falls Group also has a fourth car, the Chippewa Creek, a 4 DBR 12 Duplex Roomette car, waiting in the wings, along with a fifth car, the Samuel Ray a car with the same basic layout as the Frank Thompson.
