Canadian Railroads > CN100 VIP business train comes to the West Coast

CN ran a business train to the Vancouver, B.C. area on Saturday,
leaving Kamloops at 08:00 and arriving at CN's Thornton yard in Surrey at 15:00,
with priority handling that VIA could only dream of.
Rumour has it filled with CN executives and VIP's such as shareholder Bill Gates.

1. Eighty seven miles west of Kamloops,
CN100 business train follows the Thompson River west of Spences Bridge

2. At Lytton, CN100 business train crosses the Thompson River.
CN 3882 is a brand new locomotive, appears they are now painting the cab roof white.

3.  CN100 business train crosses the Fraser River at Cisco.
Below are two tracks, the lower is CP's Thompson Subdivision main line,
and the upper is the Cisco connecting track,
rarely used to connect the two railroads in emergency.

4.  Approaching the divisional point of Boston Bar,
CN100 business train emerges from a tunnel and crosses Ainslie Creek.

5. After a quick crew change, CN100 business train leaves Boston Bar,
crossing Anderson River.

6. Deep in the Fraser River canyon,
CN100 business train passes Hells Gate.
CP's Cascade subdivision main line is on the left.

7. Approaching Yale,
CN100 business train continues to follow the Fraser River.

8.  West of Hope, the Fraser River valley begins to broaden.

9. Nearing the end of its trip,
CN100 business train passes the preserved station of Fort Langley.
Also preserved is a CN caboose and a coach.

Very nice photos and so good to see the passenger cars back in their original CNR livery.  They look so much better than the cream and red of a few years ago.

Now THAT is a day of train-fanning...great day and great photos.

Well-chased and nice to see. The connector looks pretty shiny and new, concrete ties and fresh ballast. When was this upgraded? Time flies and my memory fails, but I seem to recall on TO a within the last few years that they really needed to use it. Can someone jog my memory? It didn't look anything like this 10 or so years ago, as I recall.

The Cisco connecting track gets used from time to time.
The most significant recent use was the end of November, 2017.
VIA made the trip up the connecting track at that time.

Nice...thanks for posting but the cars would look much better in the CN 1960s scheme paired with those engines. That green is just so old and dowdy!

I had just the opposite thought. I wished they had engines painted to match the beautiful old cars. :-)

Symph has my vote......didn't CN have a cab unit set painted in the ever elegant two tone green scheme?
