Eastern Railroad Discussion > NS 8520 in the darkDate: 08/22/19 04:50 NS 8520 in the dark Author: LV95032 Lighting by Marc Glucksman. Nice of NS to park this at a private grade crossing and the property owner to be a very friendly and cooperative person.

SantaFeRuss Posted from Android Date: 08/23/19 10:53 Re: NS 8520 in the dark Author: Txtrainman60 I have always liked this paint scheme from the first time I saw it but to be honest, I haven't a clue as to WHY they bothered to paint up a unit in such an attractive color just to sit around some podunk yard or test on some out of the way line where few people would ever see it! That said, I wish NS would paint at least two rebuilds be it GE or EMD like this and RUN them system wide like 1800 and 1801!
Date: 08/23/19 11:08 Re: NS 8520 in the dark Author: NSDash9 The point of sending it to the WNY&P is to do testing of the unit on the road with the engineering folks to work the problems out of the unit. Otherwise, there won't be any additional AC44C6CF rebuilds.

Thanks. Date: 08/23/19 17:08 Re: NS 8520 in the dark Author: NSDash9 It hasn't started testing for the second round yet.

- Jeff Carlson Posted from iPhone Date: 08/23/19 20:17 Re: NS 8520 in the dark Author: Foamductor Even if the project as a whole doesn't work out, it will be interesting to see if various technologies on this unit make there way into other rebuild programs. The Ganser common rail fuel system conversion for the FDL engine is a particularly interesting one with some really lofty claims on what it can achieve. Could be a real game changer for future FDL rebuilds.
