Military presence on Sherman Hill
Author: highgreengraphics

On May 1, 2021, a UP eastbound military train is climbing Sherman Hill at the Pillow Rocks just east of Dale, WY. The desert camouflage fits right in! Thanks to JS for the headsup. === === = === JLH

Great shot! I know a pastor in North Dakota that used to climb those rocks when he was a boy.

VERY nice photo as always. Yesterday's, (Tuesday) version, had to stop and pick up the BNSF protect unit at Castle Rock before continuing south on the Joint Line towards Colorado Springs.

I happened upon this train as it was coming into Colorado Springs, CO nearing it's destination of Fort Carson.    It had a large number of Bradley fighting vehicles on the tail of the train.

Nice photo and thanks for sharing.

Wonder if it’s coming back from Fort Irwin. We saw a lot of equipment at the unloading docks in Yermo a month ago.

As you sumized this is the 3rd Armored Brigade Combat Team from 4th Infantry Division @ Ft Carson returning
from NTC Decisive Action Rotation 21-06 @ Ft Irwin, CA. They loaded up to head to NTC on Mar-21 thru 23
over 350 vehicles were transported most by rail but some over the road.

Nice picture, Jim.  There's snow on that range in the background.  Is that the Snowy Range?  Gerry

I hadn't heard of that but it does seem to happen fairly regurlarly. I saw a LMTV (For those not in the know think
of it as the modern day 4x4 or 6x6. Used for smaller loads when a HEMETT is not needed.) photo that defies all
reasonable explination to how it ended up mangled like it did.
