Date: 09/12/21 14:39 Re: Whitefish Sunrise Author: march_hare Well composed. I really like the line of lights on the right.
Shame about having to burn down California in order to get the orange sky. Date: 09/12/21 14:51 Re: Whitefish Sunrise Author: perklocal Bravo ! Well Done !

------------------------------------------------------- > glad you have the smoke Just curious - and don't mean this in any bad way - but is that smoke or just a misty sunrise in Whitefish? Have seen both......My last call out to friends in Columbia Falls, MT (in between West Glacier and Whitefish per say) said that they had gotten some descent storms and the smoke from wildfires in the PNW were not as prevalent in the air any more. But I will certainly take updated information! Will be heading out that way on #7 and #8 in a few weeks...And Lord knows that if I have to make any alterations to my reservations, it's likely not going to be able to happen. Train has been running full to sold out on segments of my travel. Recall lots of good memories in Whitefish, especially when private cars could be interchanged there. We even had the Amtrak Anniversary Exhibit Train out there for a while! VERY nice picture! Good setup and just stunning! Early morning from Whitefish through Glacier National Park on the BNSF is great for photography and picture taking!!! Posted from Android Date: 09/12/21 17:16 Re: Whitefish Sunrise Author: walstib It seemed like just a misty sunrise to me.
It didn’t smell like smoke, and it had mostly burned off by the time we reached East Glacier. Posted from iPhone Date: 09/12/21 17:22 Re: Whitefish Sunrise Author: jp1822 Nice! Thanks for the info! That's consistent to what I've experienced, and also heard (about the smoke situation that it is!). Enjoy your trip! Safe travels!!!!

Thanks Mr. B! -John Date: 09/13/21 05:21 Re: Whitefish Sunrise Author: bmarti7 Congrats on the IOTD! We aviators call that ground fog and it's very common in the Flathead Valley. As stated, it usually burns off by mid-morning.
