Field, BC on a very cold night. Cold like this sucks the life out of camera batteries, and makes snow as hard as rock. Even though you may lose all feeling in your fingers and toes, the photos are worthwhile ;^).

that glint shot is so sweet. well of course they are all nice but I really love the warming glint off those locomotives sort of visually taking away from the cold for a few seconds. yeah, I think the masses here really want a Funnelfan-coffee table book! (really)

Some complain that the dark blue and black MRL units are hard to photograph, but I've never found that to be the case, even in high contrast situations such as a snowy background.

The P-TACKCM splits the short set of semaphores at St. Regis during a snow storm. This set will probably be decommissioned Monday and replaced by new CTC signals.

And for a final photo. Cold weather brings about it's share of broken rails, which often lead to scenes like this derailment at Juniper, OR.
