Oddities, eh?
Author: Evan_Werkema

Here are a couple of my favorites. The first is a former Santa Fe hopper now used as, well, a hopper, by a business in La Junta, CO. Not your typical car up on blocks in the front yard...

This is what happens when you follow the assembly directions to a tee, except for one small detail. This "Rail Road Croing" sign was on the Santa Fe at Fox, NM on Glorieta Pass.

Nice to see you back from the dead Evan. It all turned to crap while you were gone!

I can remember watching grain cars fill up with feed at the La Junta Mill and Elevator Co. The cars were filled right under the elevated grain car. It is no longer serviced by rail, and the tracks were removed a good 8-10 years ago. Here is a link showing a few more pics of it.

Welcome back, fellow Frieslander. Todd's going to have to change the rules now because I'm sure that you have enough oddity photos to win every week.

Welcome back,Evan. You have been sorely missed. Hope all is well. For those of you who don't know Evan through TO, he is a fountain of railroad knowledge.

On a similar note, I have a picture somewhere of a crossbuck in El Centro, CA that has "Pacific Electric" written on the mast.  I took it sometime back in the 1970s I believe.  I guess SP was into "re-cycling" back then.

I knew PE was big, but I don't think it ever served El Centro.

And, Evan, on a recent visit to Claremont, SD, I found a crossbuck (a couple, in fact) that must have been installed by the same guy who did the work on Glorietta Pass.
