Nikon F3, Provia 100 film (slide was subsequently scanned). To make a digital file suitable for posting I made a shrink of my original scan, and the shrink seems to have gotten a bit soft.

Haven't made the transition to digital yet.

Great photo Rob. Also appreciate the technical info. As Photobob mentioned, it's always nice to see that you don't need bright sun over the shoulder. In this case the "poor" lighting really makes the picture.

I could only imagine looking out of the window at that(as conductor/enginner) and getting paid to do it. That is a great pic!!!!!

After you scan you slide you will have to resize for the web. The quickest way is to use the 'Save for the web' function in Photoshop or other programs. That works pretty well but will not give a high a quality as doing it manually. Resize the image yourself and select 'resample the image' chosing 'Bicubic Sharpening' when reducing the image size. Save about jpeg 5 or 6 quality and they under filters chose 'Unsharp Mask'. Enlarge the image on the screen to about 300% or more and play with the sliders to get the best result. Look out for halos which indicate too much sharpening and black lines at the color changes. It is an art rather than a set formula so you just have to play with the software until you are comfortable with the results.

Though the Nikon and Fuji DSLRs will mount your F3 lenses you will not have autofocus or metering. You will have to upgrade the lens arsenal when you go digital but you will get the advantage of anti-shake or vibration reduction with the new lenses if you buy the top tier lines from Nikon and Canon. You might think of a nice "prosumer" camera like the Nikon 8700 or 8800 to work with while learning the digital work flow and then keep that around the house for the family photos since it will be more convenient to use at the soccer match and birthday parties than the full blown DSLR outfit. So publish, publish, publish for your career and your hobby.

Agree with previous comments. In this case the low contrast really helps accentuate the color and softens the mood nicely. ( Huhh ?? )
