'Zat You, Santa Claus?
Author: kyrasmus

So on my way home tonight I managed to catch the Longmont-Denver "Buck Local" coming south through Westminster, CO. The sheer lack of GE power common to this train make it a nice catch for the change of pace, and tonight did not fail to meet those standards with SD40-2s 1700 and 1966 leading the back-in-service SD60M 8158. As the engineer blew the customary long-long-short-long for the crossing at 80th Ave, I noticed the engineer had the in cab light on, and lo and behold, he was wearing the a full Santa suit, including hat and fake white beard. He gave a very friendly wave out the window, as I'm assuming he probably had for every crossing since leaving Longmont. In the wake of the recent "disgruntled train crew" posts, it was nice and refreshing to see an engineer having fun with his job during this spirited season.
