With due apologies to Karen Carpenter. When I saw the headlight of this coal empty come up & over the rise pictured here that Carpenter's song burst forth & took me for a ride on the tracks of my memories. It was a pleasant ride... 1. & 2. UP 5557 + empty coal buckets sneaking up on 18th Rd. crossing east of Home City, KS. Edited 2 time(s). Last edit at 05/17/17 20:23 by santafe199. Very nice photo's Lance, as usual. On February 4, 2013 it will be exactly 30 years since the day Karen passed away. Can't believe it's been 30 years already. I was a fan of Steely Dan, The Who and other great rock bands but I always enjoyed her voice. She was a one of a kind. I have the book "Little Girl Blue - The Life of Karen Carpenter" by Randy L.
