West Portal Protection
Author: Blues

Greeting and Merry Christmas to All! I'm looking for some information regarding the west portal of tunnel 41 at the summit of Donner Pass in the present day. The shed is made of concrete and I know it's length... Can anyone enlighten me as to what the appearance of the sides are? I remember reading that the railroad had covered the roof with some type of tarp and that some of it has steel reinforcement but I can't find good pictures of the sides of the structure itself. Obviously, when foaming, the train's the thing! But that isn't helping me... I'd love to see images of the sides and eaves of the structure if anyone has them.

Thanks for the help! Jeff

Thanks James! Roof eave appears to be concrete that overhangs the walls. A great start indeed!
