BNSF Gateway Sub Grainer
Author: icancmp193

Thanks to a tip from Action Mike up in Bend, I kept my ears open for a southbound 4-3 grain train that left there at 7 PM Saturday night. I don't know if the run time is typical, but at about 3:20 PM the BNSF C44-9W 4434 arrived at Stampfli Lane in suburban Crescent Mills, CA. That's 20 hours, 20 minutes. The DPU set was BNSF 6536, 4436 and 7829. Alas, everything was orange. Plenty of snowmelt water in Indian Creek and the pastures, with a rainy week ahead.

Looks beautiful up there now. I should be there in less than a month visiting family in Plumas. Can't wait!

The lower level snow mostly vanished in late Jan to mid Feb. It rained for 8 or 10 days up to 7k feet elevation. The water level of the creek in the pics would have been at least over the rail on Feb 10th.
