Steam & Excursion > Three Foot Thursday - Pacific Coast Round UpDate: 05/05/11 23:46 Three Foot Thursday - Pacific Coast Round Up Author: Harlock Last weekend was the annual Pacific Coast Railroad Round-Up. Visiting engines this time were Deanna and the Anne Marie.
Deanna is an 0-4-2 Baldwin, one of three engines rescued by Gerald Best from Hawaii, the other two being Ward Kimball's Chloe (now at Orange Empire Railroad Museum) and Olomana (now at the Pennsylvania Railroad Museum in Strausburg) Deanna passed into the hands of Francis Moseley, a well known live steam figure, and then into the hands of its current owner George who finally completed the restoration. The Anne Marie, an 0-4-0 Porter catalog switcher I believe was re-gauged from 30", and recently restored by its current owner Tom. The #3 at the Pacific Coast Railroad is a Porter that has been highly modified into a 2-6-2. Rolling stock consists of the original RETLAW-1 Santa Fe and Disneyland Railroad cars, as well as freight stock from Colorado and Guatemala (the red caboose) An extensive gallery is here: http://www.mikemassee.com/gallery/v/trains/pacific_coast_railroad/pacific_coast_railroad_2011/ and here are some highlights, below. First batch is Deanna. Mike Massee Tehachapi, CA Photography, Railroading and more.. Here is how these little engines get moved around from home to track.

Her 100 year old T-boiler is de-rated to 80 PSI, but she can still pull a Disney coach up the steep grade to the station firing on coal or wood.
Unfortunately, only one of the Disney coaches is fully restored, and this is not that one. heh. Mike Massee Tehachapi, CA Photography, Railroading and more.. Date: 05/06/11 00:00 Re: Three Foot Thursday - Pacific Coast Round Up Author: Harlock 1: A night photo
2: Big meets little: James Sabin's MEG Steam Wendy (7.5" gauge) is a very close match for the Anne Marie. A once in a lifetime photo. 3: Master Live Steam model builder Jack Bodenmann and young Live Steamer Jeff Tolan are firing and driving. Mike Massee Tehachapi, CA Photography, Railroading and more.. Mike Massee Tehachapi, CA Photography, Railroading and more.. Date: 05/06/11 00:16 Re: Three Foot Thursday - Pacific Coast Round Up Author: Harlock Now here's something you've never seen before. This is a 5/8 scale Disney coach next to a full size narrow gauge business car. The Disney coaches look full size (and indeed still fit full sized people) until you look at them next to real narrow gauge rolling stock.
Disneyland Railroad is all 5/8 scale, that is to say standard gauge scaled down to 3ft gauge, so they keep the proportions of standard gauge cars relative to the size of the track. It's not really obvious until you look at it this way. It's the largest 'scale' model train in the world! Mike Massee Tehachapi, CA Photography, Railroading and more.. Date: 05/06/11 00:18 Re: Three Foot Thursday - Pacific Coast Round Up Author: Harlock To round it out, here are some miscellaneous scenes captured around the ranch while foaming trains.
The ranch is currently 24,000 acres and is descended from an old Spanish land grant ranch. Real estate developer Rob Rossi owns part of the ranch and the railroad. I remember seeing the two cars from Guatamala (the caboose and business car Cuscatlan) on the Sundown & Southern many years ago. Nice to see them at their new home.
