Former railroad depot at Seneca, KS
Author: JoCoLB

I'm going to have to read up on my northeast Kansas railroad history to figure out exactly what I have with the attached photo. It's apparently an early-day railroad scene, featuring the depot at Seneca, KS. Union Pacific presently has a route through Seneca, but I think there was a forerunner line there that the U.P. acquired. Would the predecessor road have been the St. Joseph & Grand Island? Need some assistance with this one, guys!

What type of AT&SF boxcar is that on the left? It appears to have a standard door and either a ventilated door or a diagonal paneled-wainscote construction. Was this a standard style or an effort to salvage and use what doors were available in the car shops at the time? Evan Workema, I'm counting on your expertise!!

After a second look at the car, I guess this isn't AT&SF but S & F or S & P markings! Not sure what that is either!

I think Seneca had two lines UP(SJGI) and MP(KCNR).
