Union Pacific’s huge DDA40X locomotives are among the most powerful diesel’s ever built. After several years of storage some of them were reactivated for further service in 1983 or 84. They were used mostly on intermodal trains. I managed to catch several of them in the vicinity of Las Vegas in 1984. All scanned from color prints.
