top: back in May '73 a matched quartet of Santa Fe GP30's headed east through Daggett, CA on Santa Fe's Needles District. middle: in August '75 a matched quartet of Santa Fe GP38's were leading a train out of Temple, TX crossing the MKT just south of town. bottom: in August '96 in another slide found in the boxes a fairly rare pair of Santa Fe SD39's (they only had twenty and they seldom saw the east end of the system) led westbound Conrail train ELSF (Elkhart-Santa Fe) into South Bend, IN. However, they would occasionally escape such mundane duty for a jaunt across the main to odd places, which is what I'm sure you caught here. I have caught these engines in such service, and it lasted until after the BNSF merger, when one of the first repaints headed an eastbound manifest through Bucklin, MO, for my camera. And, I don't think I'm the only one who wishes he had your rejects. Please, keep them coming. Nick Tharalson, Marion, IA Date: 11/30/12 12:18 Re: few Santa Fe matched sets . . . You could see them mixed with the GP35's in groups up to 8 or so. Date: 12/01/12 12:01 Re: few Santa Fe matched sets . . . Author: WP-M2051 santafe199 Wrote:
