Nostalgia & History > SP at Earlimart and Bena, 1985Date: 11/22/14 10:58 SP at Earlimart and Bena, 1985 Author: AlcoRSD15 On our way to Tehachapi on February 9, 1985, my friend Ron and I caught up with SP 9404 East at Fresno. Of particular interest was the UP U30C that was in the consist, relatively rare to be found in pool service on the SP. We paced the train along Highway 99, then photographed him at Earlimart, between Fresno and Bakersfield.
 Date: 11/22/14 10:59 Re: SP at Earlimart and Bena, 1985 Author: AlcoRSD15 Then we pressed on ahead to Bakersfield and headed toward the Tehachapi Mountains. At Bena, miles east of Bakersfield, we found SP 9177 West stopping to set out some locomotives at the helper pocket track.
