Author: 3rdswitch . . these two have been posted at one time or other, however, for the purpose of Flare Friday in the good old days of Cajon Pass the joint DRGW UP ATSF Utah to Kaiser Steel unit coal train was climbing west on the east side of Cajon Pass at Hesperia with five flares, plus an unusual interloper in the form of a very recent rebuild GP20, in four paint schemes (five if we include the GP20) 10-78.

May not have been on the head end but nice to see an ATSF 'flare' on there, even if it was in helper service.
From what I've seen on here in the photos, looks like none of the UP SD45s ever got snowplows, which seems odd. Edited 1 time(s). Last edit at 03/06/15 08:24 by modoc_line.
