For those of you who don't remember Earl Scheib's, their business was auto painting. They would promise to paint your entire car for one very low price (originally $19.95).... and when I say your entire car, I mean everything .... bumpers, chrome, side mirrors, door handles, tires ...... EVERYTHING. From the Wikipedia article - "Scheib was plagued with a high employee turnover rate due to the demands of attempting to paint up to five cars a day. The company's main criterion in hiring and promoting management trainees was based on sales skills only. Knowledge of auto body repair or painting techniques was not required. Trainees underwent a short training period and were then assigned to their own shops. Managers who failed to increase sales for three successive months were fired, regardless of seniority." "Scheib's policy of one-day service and production line techniques flew directly into the face of state-of-the-art professional Auto Body standards and caused the company to become a national joke at the time." I remember seeing some truly awful Earl Scheib paint jobs back in the 70's. That switcher brought back memories of those paint jobs. Earl Scheib Wikipedia article Date: 05/26/16 16:41 Re: Caption this. Author: hogheaded My folks got an Earl Scheib paint job on our '52 Chevy. What Earl money saved on masking tape, he lost in paint, which I swear was a quarter inch thick.

Date: 05/26/16 18:57 Re: Caption this. Author: Bob3985 News Flash....... The Southern Pacific Railroad today captured the alien stealth engine and have it contained in the shop trackage for further investigations. Word is that the FBI, NSA and other security agencies believe that perhaps the graffiti gangs were getting even for the regular paint jobs traveling about California.
