Nostalgia & History > Tuesday Two - EL 1023

In "Marion Monday - C&O" on 10/24/2016, I posted a C&O freight approaching the EL diamonds. These two images are from the same strip of negatives. It was December 1966, and EL 1023 had a westbound freight. 
Image one: Here she is passing AC Tower when it was still an active tower. The black diamond in the right corner is from the roof of the building under which I stood to keep out of the weather.
Image two: Here EL 1023 passes under the signal bridge at the Marion diamonds.

Was the signal bridge in picture 2 still semaphores or had it been converted.

When I look at that tower only one thing comes mind.  It will never make it through a severe thunderstorm.
