Canadian Railroads > Trip to CranbrookDate: 09/21/14 17:34 Trip to Cranbrook Author: fbe I am putting together a trip to Cranbrook in mid October. I will be entering thru Yahk.
Will there be trains going to trail worth the chase? Crowsnest Pass coal bypasses Cranbrook via Ft Steele? Does anyone know which steamer will be running at Ft Steele Oct 11 & 12? Thanks. Posted from Windows Phone OS 7 Date: 09/21/14 18:46 Re: Trip to Cranbrook Author: sarailfan I think the runs west of Curzon (Yahk) are mostly overnight jobs. In the longer summer hours I think you can manage a chase, October, not so much. Crowsnest coal turns north onto the Windermere Sub at Fort Steele, and does not quite make it to Cranbrook. As for what's going on at the fort, I can't help there.

At Cranbrook the crew change is taking place a little north of Cranbrook. There is an interesting museum there, if open. Check Fort Steele website for hours, call re steam train running. There could be 5-6 trains a day around Cranbrook...couple of neat photo locations on the flats north of town. The crew change and connection between the Cranbrook and Windermere Subs is just below the Ft Steele park to the north. > Does anyone know which steamer will be running at > Ft Steele Oct 11 & 12? The website and schedule for Ft Steele are here. It sounds like just the one engine running. http://fortsteele.ca/hours-prices/schedule/ Shoot me an email Alan, the Alberta gang will be down for the weekend. A.J. There will be a special children's day operation for Halloween on October 31.
