Back and Forth, Back and Forth...
Author: loleta

I managed to photograph six trains on CN's Squamish Sub. yesterday -- and could have seen eight had I been able to drag myself out of bed earlier. All it took was a lot of driving back and forth.
1. I drove north to catch CN 2802 south, train 570, heading down a 2% grade a couple of miles north of Cheakamus siding.
2. Then south to get CN 2800, train 546, exiting the mile 29 tunnel north of Furry Creek.
3. North again, this time to photograph train 571 crossing Rice Creek north of Garibaldi siding.

4. Next I drove back south to see the RMR Whistler train at this classic Squamish Sub. location: the Cheakamus River bridge from a rocky overlook beside the highway. Like everywhere else on this line, the trees over the past couple of decades have obscured a lot of the good photo locations, and there's just enough room in this shot--for now--for a four-axle locomotive.
5. Continuing south, here's the RMR again at Britannia Beach.

6. North we go once again, to see the power for a second 546 turning on the wye in Squamish.
7. And south one last time, stopping on the way home to catch 546 at Britannia Beach.
