Canadian Railroads > Red Barns Turn Blue for WinterDate: 10/24/16 15:27 Red Barns Turn Blue for Winter Author: kgmontreal CMQ's ten Red Barns are quickly becoming Blue Barns at the hands of a very efficient painting contractor. At least one, the 9017 shown here, is still red. Train #2 with a pair of freshly painted units made a fine sight today in Farnham, QC. We see its power pulling up the lead from the shop, tied onto its train and underway.

Michael Date: 10/25/16 14:59 Re: Red Barns Turn Blue for Winter Author: tq-07fan Even though Quebec was MLW country the SD 40-2Fs were based from Calgary west did any of the Red Barns ever operate on this track in Quebec when it was still CP Rail?
I hope the other Red Barns and the GP 9s CP has for sale find loving homes. Jim Date: 10/25/16 18:34 Re: Red Barns Turn Blue for Winter Author: perklocal Looks like somebody liked the paint scheme used on the Maersk units. Is that where they got the idea? I love this scheme.
Date: 10/25/16 20:41 Re: Red Barns Turn Blue for Winter Author: Alexmarissa The paint scheme looks like the old Canadian Pacific scheme, but in the colors of the Quebec flag (blue and white) instead of maroon and yellow.

They even ran on the Expressway piggyback trains between Montreal and Toronto from time to time. Likewise, during the winter they have appeared on grain trains between Montreal and Quebec City. But as far as I remember none ever operated from Montreal to Saint John, NB during CPR days. So the answer to your question is no. KG Date: 10/26/16 11:31 Re: Red Barns Turn Blue for Winter Author: MEC-RS3 The only trip I know of. 10/24/1994. Turned at Brownville. Was worth the trip! The 9024 is now CMQ 9024 in fresh paint.
