That scene was pretty contrived and stupid. I caught it while channel surfing, but having that as my exposure to the show , I have no desire to see any more.

If it's Top Gear USA, then I'll pass.

All reality TV is set up anyway. Just part of the plan to dumb down the masses.

My favorite example of how realty TV is all a set up is from Pawn Stars. In one of the first episodes of Pawn Stars, a man brings in an old pop machine to sell. The pawn shop buys it and takes it over to Rick's Restorations to be restored big reveal at the end and all is swell. However, we now know that the man that brought the pop machine in was Ron Dale, the brother to Rick Dale of Rick's Restorations.

And everyone knows that Top Gear US is totally inferior to Top Gear UK.

I'll totally agree to that. Jezza, Hamster, and Captain Slow are a lot better than the USA guys. Tanner, Adam, and Rutledge have their moments, but give me the UK crew any day of the week.

I don't watch the UK version much, but I did catch an episode the other night where they drove across Burma to Thailand to build a bridge across the River Kwai. It ultimately was about as contrived as the US version has become, so I didn't see much difference.

Watching reality shows = low IQ

I would agree in some cases - but Top Gear does not qualify as a "reality show". It's a humorous car show - it features car reviews and various car-related races/challenges among the three "presenters" on each show. It's not "reality tv" as you would think.

Jeremy Clarkson got into quite a bit of bother recently over a provocative license plate in Argentina whilst filming Top Gear UK

OK - what? Can you hint?

It seems that the Argentinian people took offense at the license plate number (H982 FKL) that Clarkson's car had on it when they were filming a Top Gear episode. They were pelted with stones and had abandon the cars and be escorted to the airport to leave the country. I agree, when people can't tell truth from reality, they're in big trouble. It's bad enough that historic events are made into movies that discredit what really happened.

Really disappointed to see all these responses to a simple question and not one response answers the original posters questions. Especially disturbed to see judgement on people's IQ based solely on their choice of entertainment. For the record the scenes were shot on the Great Smokey Mountain Railway. As for the exact location, maybe someone local to the area can shed some light on that area. Also, I have been known to watch reality TV and don't consider myself to have a low IQ...I watch it for entertainment purposes, not enlightenment. When I want to learn I read wikipedia...because everything on the internet is true (end sarcasm) Judge not lest you be judged yourself.
