Circus Wilkes Barre

Monday 05/02/16
The Barnum & Bailey Circus train gets its act together to leave town northbound for Binghamton, NY.
Our home short line Luzerne Susquehanna is helping by shoving the huge train south to the NS D&H Line past Fellows Rd here in Hanover Twp. There NS will add its power for the north bound trek.

Great rainy day contribution.  Thanks for your 'wet' efforts.  I notice in the third shot from the end that there seems to be a Blue Unit animal car mixed in with two from the Red Unit.  Makes no difference as the elephants aren't in there.  The Red Unit cars seem to have their Red logos at the end of the car and no "Ringling Brothers and Barnum & Bailey" banner as seen on the Blue Unit animal car.  I'm sure there's an explanation for that.  I believe the train is headed to Manchester NH.

At the end of this East Coast tour, the elephants will be removed from the Circus forever.

Actually, the elephants are 'finished'.  After their last appearance in Wilkes-Barre PA (Red Unit) the elephants went back to their ranch in Florida by truck.  The Blue Unit elephants made their last appearance in Providence RI last night (and seen by many in a live telecast on the Internet and Facebook)  Those pachyderms are headed back to FL by train on a CSX routing from Worcester MA to Ellenton FL (via Albany, North Jersey, Phila, Baltimore, Washington, Richmond, Rocky Mount, Charleston, Savannah, etc)

Are the cars the elephants rode in being sent back to Flordia also or are they staying with the rest of the train for now?

The elephants are gone now; the other animals are still there...

So the Red unit hasn't lost any cars when the elephants left?  I didn't realize that other animals rode in the same cars with the elephants.

Easier to just leave the empty cars on the unit train then send them back separately.  Probably also gives the handlers more room to spread out the other animals if need be.

Probably is the case, the RR's must not charge to much to switch the train so the expense of unneeded cars with the train must me miniscule.
