Hunter is coming
Author: Finderskeepers

Hunter Harrison put in his resignation on the table to end his tenure at CP 6 months early. He apparently left 118 million dollars on the table for them to waive his non-competition clause in his contract. He is coming to another railroad, likely either NS or CSX. That is a huge sum of money to leave on the table, he is after something bigger....I fear for the next victims.

We will wait and see. I wouldn't be suprised if NS or CSX let him in.

YOu watch--he'll end up at the FRA or some other government regulatory agency and force his way to making his legacy of transcontinental railroads happen through regulation.  WE are all screwed!

Sounds like CSX. They didn't get door locked at Jacksonville in time.

G&W has a headquarters in Jacksonville

And a railroad small enough to go around Hunter's Christmas tree......The FEC...headquarter in the area.

After everything he's put NS & CSX through the last several in an attempt at mergers & a hostile takeover, why would either railroad, in their right mind, hire him for anything? Seems to me that he cost both of those entities a lot of money, NS especially, keeping him & CP at bay for a while. If I were on either board, I wouldn't hire him to sweep the floors. But hey, just another $.02 from somebody in the peanut gallery who's never worked in the industry.

The board can appoint him.  The board is appointed by shareholders. If you buy enough shares, you can install a board of your choosing.  It's a lot simpler than people think if your pockets are deep enough.

It will be interesting, that's for sure.

I suspect Pershing Square will probably use tactics similar to those they used at CP. If this becomes a proxy battle you have to convince share holders you can do better than the current highly regarded management / bunch of clowns

--Management is fat and comfortable
--The board is a bunch of cronies, unwilling to force the company to make serious changes
--The company wastes an enormous amount of money
--The company has way too much track for the amount of business they have

Ironically, NS had its "come to Jesus moment" and moved toward spinning off branches, tightening up pricing, hiring more sales people etc

The comments at the bottom of that article were rather interesting, to say the least. A few members of the EHH fan club but a whole lot more that had absolutely nothing positive to say about him.

Hate to say but CSX is still Cutting and Cutting Engineers & Conductors here in Alabama plus making Mixed freight trains longer Q647 is now a Mid DPU train (even with a spike in rail traffic), Huntington to my understanding dose not know if they will be doing anymore Rebuilds after June Csx the heads at CSX are telling Huntington Shops they need to be competitive in the rebuild industry. But at the same time this may be Hunter's way of tring to get CSX to take over CP, I know many have said the STB wont let it happen but look at what happen on election day and before election day the goverment is unpreditcable.

Yea Sanburn is just as bad as hunter from every CSX worker I know down here in Bama she is still cutting.

Does anyone know if the NS and CSX have mandatory retirement ages?  The WSJ Market Watch says it will be CSX.
I thought Misters Ward and Gooden would be there forever.

NS for sure does. That was the driving reason behind Wick leaving there.   Ben

Sounds like great news for NS.  Hunter will drive customers away with his massive cost cutting and degradation of service (sounds like CSX is doing a pretty good job at this now any ways) so many new business opportunities for NS.
