Joshua Trees almost here!
Author: spike

As some of you may know, I am working on producing and selling Joshua Trees for those desert modelers. Over the weekend, I received some sample castings of the armatures. I carved the master copy out of a modeling substance called "Super Sculpey." My uncle who owns a Plating shop then made a mold from this and is producing castings for me. The castings are made of tin which I bend to form a tree. I assembled a few trees over the past couple of days and these are the results. The color of the tree's bark and yuccas may slightly change on the actual production run. I expect to have the production run start as soon as I receive all the casting back.

Thanks for looking

Mason,
Those are great!!!
I've got to have some for the desert scene on my H.O.layout here in Santa Susana Ca.

Growing up I spent many weeks out at my Grandmas house on the northeast flank of Mount San Gorgonio
at the 4500 foot level (18 miles up the hill west of Yucca Valley Ca.)
Joshua tree forests everywhere.
My Grandma had 27 on her property!

You've captured the real thing there in miniature Good Buddy.
Let us know when you are ready for retail.
I'll get a money order on its way to you.

Good Job Mason!

Looks great. Here is a photo from Joshua Tree National Park. Will you do some in N scale also?

Doing Joshua trees in N scale is on my to do list. I am still working on how I would make them as they will use a slightly different process. I also want to offer the trees with flowers.

Mason, these are AWESOME! Please tell us , what scale(s) do you plan to reduce these in? You could make some major buku here if you produce them J-trees in multiple scales!

I'll definitely take some of those for my Tonopah and Tidewater RR. Do you have a website? - Nevin

Although I have no use for them (Texas themed model RR) I must say
you really nailed them with your model of the Joshua.

Making them is only half the battle. Marketing them to the masses will
be a challenge, but something tells me you will figure that out too.

Let me know if you decide to make oak trees. I need about 5000 of 'em.

At the moment, I am just doing them in HO(these HO trees will also model a smaller tree in S scale.) In the future, depending on the the amount of interest, I will also try to model them in N and O scale. I do have a website but it is not built yet. I will update you when I am closer to completion.
