Rocky Mountaineer Models
Author: eminence_grise

Over the past several years Rocky Mountaineer has commissioned a few runs of HO models of their fleet. First two photos are of Athearn GP40-2 models lettered for the Rocky Mountaineer and Whistler Mountaineer they came in two road numbers for each name which we have all four. The third photo is of a run of baggage cars (Used by the prototype as generator cars) there were 6 numbers done but we only acquired two these are Rapido Trains cars. There is no word as to if RMR will have models done for locomotives in the new paint scheme.

next is the RMR coaches there were 10 number done and we acquired all 10. Next came the Whistler Mountaineer crew car that lacks the "Coast Classic" logo the car is numbered 5718. Additionally there were two numbers in the Whistler Mountaineer "Coast Classic" scheme. All are Rapido models.

Lastly they produced from Rapido three numbers in the new colours. Like the prototype the cars all have to face the same way or the lines get out of sync. We acquired 10 of these cars making our RMR fleet 25 cars strong.

My daughter was given the RMR concept models for their first paint scheme, the models are professionally done in the white dark and light blue and purple colours, the set includes B36-7 7488 (ex-ATSF) a baggage dorm, and four coaches. The prototype baggage dorms were converted into baggage generator cars by RMR.

Here is a short video taken by Kylie of GP40-2 RMR 8017 and NREX genset 2020 leading the 10 cars in the new scheme introduced in 2011. NREX 2020 spent the 2010 and 2011 seasons on RMR.

Nice models. One that I did not know was out there.

After seeing the video of the model, now a I know why some say this trains reminds them of a cork screw or drill.
