Model Railroading > The 2016 PC - a little bit more progress on CP221Date: 05/23/16 19:55 The 2016 PC - a little bit more progress on CP221 Author: navarch2 I did a bit more tonight on CP221.
Removed the full scale paper tempate and used a pounce tool to transfer the track lines from the paper template to the foam subroadbed. Laid more cork roadbed to complete the curves into the junction roadbed from main line to the tangent points on the junction mains. Now I will do one more transfer of the junction track lines to a large sheet of sheet cork that will support all of the diamonds (8 of the 9 are shown) and add it onto the benchwork so I can lay and wire all the track associated with this large junction. Stanley Jackowski Valrico, FL Date: 05/24/16 04:44 Re: The 2016 PC - a little bit more progress on CP221 Author: boejoe Not familiar with a pounce tool. Can you explain?
Date: 05/24/16 05:39 Re: The 2016 PC - a little bit more progress on CP221 Author: penncentral74 The pounce tool is generally used when sewing to transfer carbon paper marks to fabric from a template.
This gentleman has CAD drawings and when plotted full size, you can run the tool down the drawing and it will perforate the drawing and make an identical line on (in this case) the extruded foam board to allow accurate locating of track center lines. It would but the angle looks a bit steep for most double slip switches I've seen. Date: 05/24/16 08:51 Re: The 2016 PC - a little bit more progress on CP221 Author: boejoe penncentral74 Wrote:

Now I get it. (plus a picture is worth a thousand words) Thanks Date: 05/24/16 14:07 Re: The 2016 PC - a little bit more progress on CP221 Author: warrenpweiss This is going to be fantastic. Count me as one of the many who can't wait to see your project finished.
Warren Date: 05/26/16 07:40 Re: The 2016 PC - a little bit more progress on CP221 Author: navarch2 I looked into that but the new Peco Code 83 slips are expensive and a different geometry .....I will have connections across the routes anyway before the diamonds.
Having said that suggestions are always welcome :) Bob SPDRGWfan Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > tomstp Wrote: > -------------------------------------------------- > ----- > > Why doncha throw in some double slip switches > into > > that mess of crossings. Date: 05/26/16 07:44 Re: The 2016 PC - a little bit more progress on CP221 Author: navarch2 If you look closely at the picture, you can see the trail of perforations close to or right in the lines drawn on the foam.. I print out the track pklan for complex junctions or trackwork at a 1:1 scale on our plotter at work. I can print up to 36" wide and 40 feet long.
This railroad will very closely follow the CAD file of it save for transitions I do by eye and changes made as I go along.
