Date: 12/06/12 10:13 Re: Has anyone traveled on the new Pullman service offe Author: co614 Yes, I rode the first official revenue round-trip out of Chicago on 10/29. Had a splendid time. I booked the Master Stateroom both ways and it was worth the fare. Recommend it.
If you go diet for a week ahead so you are plenty hungry when boarding as the food is terrific!! Ross Rowland Date: 12/06/12 10:28 Re: Has anyone traveled on the new Pullman service offe Author: joemvcnj Where's the NY - Chicago route ?

thanks for the feedback. what cars were on the trip?? do you have any photos? what was the dress code? was the ride comfortable? thanks again. i'm booked on it next week and can't wait Date: 12/06/12 11:05 Re: Has anyone traveled on the new Pullman service offe Author: mdolot1 I went southbound in late October, and it was a good experience. The round end observation was parked right by the door in Union Station. Leaving Chicago on a dark, clear night is spectacular. I had a couple cocktails in the observation car and then dinner in the dome around 9. Then it was back to the lounge for a nightcap and then to my compartment for a pretty good night's sleep. Breakfast and lunch followed the next day before arriving in New Orleans. It is a big step up from Amtrak and very much like riding the Panama Limited in the 1950's. There were a few minor issues, but I'm sure they will work them out in time. I also enjoyed meeting some great folks and having good conversation. A late evening cigar with a cognac would have been great.

Is it through Amtrak? thanks for the picture Date: 12/07/12 00:18 Re: Has anyone traveled on the new Pullman service offe Author: alaska How did you folks find/board this train at Chic Union Sta?
Were you able to visit the Metro lounge like the Amtrak sleeping car pass? Thanks Hal Date: 12/07/12 05:52 Re: Has anyone traveled on the new Pullman service offe Author: co614 Nick, The two cars I remember of the four on our trip were the dome diner where we took our very well done meals and the round end obs. lounge where I spent most of my time enjoying the view to the rear and where my master bedroom was. The other cars were an 11 bedroom sleeper and a sleeper used as crew dorm.
The CN track between Memphis and Jackson is very poorly maintained resulting in a rough ride. Other than that stretch the ride was quite nice. The crew was the best part, as they couldn't do enough to make the trip great. You'll have a wondeful time.
