Riddle me this; why does it take two P42's to pull train #5/6 with the same amount of cars as the TEXAS EAGLE?

I believe that 5 and 6 usually have more cars. However, the Texas Eag;e route is flat but the route that 5 and 6 uses has heavy grades at places.

#66 has been around a lot lately. It pulled me to Dallas on 12/9 and back home on 12/11.

Minimum off-peak consist for 5/6 is eight cars, although nine is common most of the year (baggage, dorm, 2x sleepers, diner, lounge, 3x coaches). 21/22 don't regularly exceed seven cars. Plus, I suspect 5/6 encounters more sustained grades in excess of 2% than any other Amtrak train.

When did #66 get the PTC antenna farm? Looks like a table is on its head. Nice shots.
