you gotta walk a country mile to get to the train---I was there in April.
Good to see improvements but depot sure an eyesore for California's capital city.
Will be fun to see the after shots of the building.

All the comments about how far it is to walk, I keep thinking about how far I end up walking at airports. San Jose's Terminal B is TERRIBLE if you are not at a gate right near security. Heck, you walk over 650 feet from the parking garage to security.

Or try Reno. That one is another hoof.

Platforms and even the tunnels look nice. Someone did a good job on them. Great pix!

The walk from the old platforms to new is about 650 feet, or 7 passenger cars (shorter than a BART platform). They also provide electric shuttle-cart service to those who want assistance getting between the depot and platforms.

The station is now owned by the City of Sacramento.

The walk is shorter then the one at Los Angeles, yet no one complains about that...

I agree with most posts here... I find the walk very reasonable, the new tunnel bright and classy, and the renovated station hall will likely be beautiful, just like LAX, SEA, and others. Sac can be proud of this.

The tunnels to the platforms sure look sharp, great design and excellent craftsmanship. One of these days I might get to Sacramento to check it out. As for the distance, that's nothing, I walk at least 2-3 times that far from security to the gates for Southwest every time I fly out of Salt Lake, and that's after I park, walk to the terminal, etc. Oakland isn't quite as bad depending on which gate my flight is at, but it's still a good walk some times.

I suspect that in the future the space where the old platforms are located will be needed for storage, passenger loading etc. The absolutely best feature of the relocation is the separation of freight trains from the passenger platforms. Sacramento is geographically well situated for a huge increase in passenger traffic from all directions. It's a beautiful station and surely will improve with the remodeling.

Are there elavators from the tunnel to the platforms?

I don't believe so, but the ramps are nice, wide and look to meet ADA requirements (level "rest spot" after some many feet) so it appears no elevator is required.
