Passenger Trains > A Frigid Arrival: Amtrak 280, Utica, NY

It's a scene repeated countless times nationwide on a daily basis, still, I find it interesting.

Here is Amtrak 280, Empire Service, arriving in Utica, NY on the frosty (34 degrees) morning of May 23, 2015.

280 arrives "on the advertised" and doesn't linger in Utica's Union Station  too long before resuming its journey eastward to Albany, thence southwards along the Hudson River to NYC.

By the way, Utica's Union Station is still a "union" station as Adirondack Scenic Railroad passengers still entrain/detrain here.

Great video -- as my home station for decades (before moving where it is never 34F) Utica is always a treat to see.

And it is good to see the crew boarding people in an expeditious manner without scanning "tickets" on the platform!!!

For many years on the west coast "streetcaring" or taking tickets on the platform was forbidden.  Except at Del Mar during the race season.

      Wow, that one going away was something else !
