Trinidad, CO to get a passenger train station - maybe, finally!
Author: degilchr

Based on article in May 28, 2015 World Journal, a weekly covering Southern CO and Northern NM along I25, a multi-modal transportation center, budgeted at $860,135, is moving forward after being in the planning since building of the current platforms and parking in 2009.  Players included South Central Council of Governments, Amtrak, Burlington Northern  (just repeating what was in the article) and Colorado Department of Transportation, City of Trinidad.

Funding - $552,000 via grants from Colorado Department of Transportation, Funding Advancement for Surface Transportation and Economic Recovery, Federal Livability Program.  Burlington Northern has committed around $20,000 and City of Trinidad $30,000.

Building to have Restrooms, Ticket Kiosk, Waiting Room, Phone Service, Elevator, WiFi, Water Fountain, Ticket Counters for Bus and Rail service.  Architecture similar to Colorado Welcome Center about a block away.

No mention of time frame or source of additional funding.

Finally. Trinidad has a beautiful platform and parking lot, but no building since the old one was
knocked down for highway improvements.
Its really too bad the Colorado Welcome Center couldn't have been combined into this not-yet-built
intermodal station.
