Accident in Hoboken

MSNBC reporting an accident at the Hoboken station, somewhere around 9.00 AM EDT. NO details yet, but from a couple cell-phone pics looks like a runaway, with structural damage to the station.

There are concrete bumper posts at track end so this guy had excessive speed to reach waiting room.

The pictures on local media show downed skylights and collapsed shed roof area.

One eyewitness described the train running through the end of track and into the waiting room area. Looks like the first or second car is at the gates.

Cab car would likely be leading, no word on injuries to passengers or crew.

CNN Reports multiple injuries and major structural damage to the Hoboken, NJ terminal.  They crash into a building at high speed and the passengers do NOT wear seat belts.  Go figure !

It went right up to the building. Does not look like it penetrated into the waiting room.
This is something akin to the Washington Union station GGI/Federal run-away.

As usual the talking mouths on tv are asking the usual stupid inspid inane questions. How did it feel when it hit the wall ? when did you get scared , heres the best one so far , why do you think the train was going so fast and when did you know it was too fast to stop?  God  just shut up alreaady and leave these people alone.

Seat belts?  The aisles were most likely full of standing people posturing to quickly disembark at the final destination.

Fox 5 NY is interviewing a former NJT dispatcher. He says track 5, discussed all the over lapping safety modes. Good balance of comments

Lead car is 6036

Is this the same scenario as the ending to the movie 'Silver Streak'?   Not as intense, but basically the end of the track, and the train went through the barriers and into the station?

Definitely crashed into/through bumper post at end of track. How far it penetrated into the station seems to be subject to interpretation at the moment.
