Nice photos!   Whose engine is the Santa Fe GE?  I shot that unit in Streator Ill about 15 years ago.

That's the Nashville and Western Railroad, a shortline that runs northwest along the Cumberland River to an industrial park just south of Ashland City, and just came under ownership with RJ Corman.

I'd like to know more about that self-propelled trailer!

Nice coverage with ground and drone photos.
And how about the man holding the wires up out of the way.
I think it was telephone and not electrical wires.

It isn't really a "trailer" but a self powered "mover", with all wheels powered.

Ah, thanks. Hydraulic motors at each wheel driven by
a large diesel powered pump I presume?

Would like to see them putting it on the mover. Or taking it off. Not exactly like an ATV ramp.  I imagine that takes a long time.  Thank you for the pictures.

Search youtube for Mammoet Self-Propelled Modular Transporter (SPMT)
Or fix this link:

It's pretty neat.

What kind of shape is this engine in?

Once overhauled, where are they going to run it?

Reportedly, pretty good shape. But it will require a full 1472 FRA inspection & re-certification anyway.

I believe the local railroad is called the Kentucky and Eastern, which even has passenger commuter service on it.

It will run on the Nashville & Eastern RR now under R.J. Corman control

Thanks for the correction, i.e. the Nashville & Eastern.  Obviously I have Kentucky on my mind, due to their many Bourbon distilleries.

The automated trailer is just like a train with Remote Control Operator.  He has the same operating pack.......   Is he collecting conductor's pay or engineer's pay??

Thanks, RailfanTerry!
In photo #6, you can see the Nashville Union Station Hotel in the background — neat!
