Digging through my photo storage, I came upon this "Norman Rockwell". Here I am qualified mainline fireman, apprentice engineer, and Hanky-the-Hostler calming the savage beast #2101 on a Chessie Steam Special trip from Baltimore to Gettysburg on Sunday May 25th 1977. Seems like only yesterday. Lucky i can remember yesterday. Both photos are from my collection but photographers unknown; my portrait location is Gettysbug, 2101 location unknown but looks like Harve de Grace??

Respectfully,
Scoop

The photo of 2101 was taken on the Potomac River Bridge of the former B&O Railroad at Harper's Ferry, West Virginia.

Hank did you roll in the coal pile before Norman Rockwell painted that picture.  Should be on the cover of Saturday Evening Post.   Good stuff.  Enjoy you little stories.

Actually, Norman paid me for the opportunity to create such a fine portrait of the young and dashing...the coal make-up took a little doing to duplicate reality.
