Hammerhead attack, on the A-OK
Author: WrongWayMurphy

Man, there is something really intimidating about
these GE Super 7's coming at ya long hood forward.
Not sure the exact model # but maybe someone can
clear that up.

I really like the Rock Island like logo.

Location is McAlester, Oklahoma, from last week

4096 (or whatever number that is-- 4090-something) is a number Norfolk Southern bestowed on a former Conrail B23-7SR... before it was on CR, it served the Monongahela Railroad. That Super 7 was rebuilt from a Western Pacific U23B, which is where the EMD trucks came from.

Cool history - I forgot about the Monongahela - aren't they the only ones who had Blombergs under any Dash-7's? I can't think of any similar examples under Dash-8's or -9's, either. - - - - JLH

Western Pacific and C&O both liked Blombergs under their 4 axle GEs. UP retired the ex-WP U23B fleet about the time the Super 7 program was starting. I heard the GE selected those engines specifically because they had the Blombergs. Which, unfortunately, meant that they denied the donation request that the FRRS put forward for WP 2260. All the surviving WP U23Bs were rebuilt in the Super 7 program, with most going to Monongahela.

The U23B's were the only GE's that had EMD trucks on the C&O. The U30B's, B30-7's, and U25B's had AAR's and FB2's.

Don't forget the absolute KING of Blomberg trucked U-Boats: Seaboard Coast Line. ACL pioneered the concept, at about the same time Southern and GM&O were getting EMD's with Alco trucks.

Iowa Interstate Railroad owns the rights.

If you look closely at the AOK logo, you'll see it's missing the triangle "point" at the bottom that was on the original RI logo, presumably to keep it from stepping on IAIS' rights to said logo.
