I arrived at Cresson yesterday to begin a week's vacation on the NS West Slope...

Before checking in at The Station Inn on Sunday, I stopped off at Altoona where I grabbed a few shots of a Westbound 11A as it assembled its train in Altoona.....Dave Williams

I swung down to Johnstown this morning and caught the CSX D703 local doing some switching.....Dave W

I swung over to East Conemaugh in the afternoon....An Eastbound NS 66W crosses over from 1 to 2 at CP-C to get around a 14G stopped at AO for helpers....Dave W

The 66W's head head is about to pass the hind end of a 14G...The 14G rear helpers are starting to notch up as noted by the plume of exhaust in the air above the helpersto shove East as the 66W nears....Dave W.

The 66W continues East through CP-C.....Dave W.

The rear helpers assist the 66W as it begins the West Slope climb....Dave W

Light helpers wait at CP-C as an Eastbound Y90 extra 590 coal drag approaches....These helpers would eventually couple onto the second helper set seen in the distance before shoving this Y90 East....Dave W

The helper has one more train to wait for..before he can proceed West and cross over to couple onto the other set.....An Eastbound 20Q is that last Eastbound....Dave W

And finally....That light set of helpers had earlier come off the head end of a Westbound 37A...seen here just before the helpers cut away....After the Y90 and those light helpers cleared CP-C, the 37A continued West with another helper set staying on the rear....Dave Williams

Haha my family saw you at Johnstown, we chased it from Rockwood to Johnstown. Good to other new faces getting the train. I'll add my photos later. Hope you liked the train, ex Chessie & Ex Conrail.

In all the years I've been coming out to the West Slope, this was the first time that I shot much on the CSX S@C Sub....My earliest trips out to the Slope were back in the last years of the PRR visiting my grandparents in South Fork.....but I was barely old enough to walk and talk on those first trips...Almost half a century has gone by since my first visits to the West Slope.....time flies....Dave W
