It looks as if it will be a good year for the larger scale group.

To me, riding behind live steam looks like far more fun than being pulled around by something that sounds like a
lawnmower. Not knocking the diesel guys, but I'm a steam guy at heart.

The amount of work is really just like the prototrype.  It is just how you want to spend your time.  The "lawnmower" take a lot less time getting it runnng and more time riding.  Just say'n

They are both fun.  I have one of each.

The top speed is higher with the steam engine and I like to run a bit on the fast side.

Not quite sure if riders feel the same......

Shane, is that because of the mass of the loco?  Does it feel more secure?

Diesel and gas engines have a pretty much fixed RPM range. Any steam locomotive will run as fast as the engineer's nerves will let it, pretty much limited only to it's steaming capacity. Reciprocating mass was always the enemy of high speed steam engines, but with models the reciprocating mass is greatly reduced.
