Couldn't the 942 been spiffed up for the occasion?

Any updates?  Hoping to catch it at Perryville or Aberdeen, which means I need to get moving if I'm not already too late.

Thanks,

Amtrak Joe is on board. Boardman, not Biden. Sold out train. Photo stop at Halethorpe, near Baltimore. Regular trains streak by at 100+ mph. NEC is a busy railroad.

And for those unfamiliar with this station, the track that the train is on is used by MARC commuter trains stopping there heading to Baltimore.  It is rarely used by an Amtrak Train since Amtrak does not stop there on a regular basis.

Nice narration over the PA to explain locations and NEC details. Great for us west coasters.

Car host in the 8 Car is Director of Ops & Planning for Amtrak. 45 years service to the company. #1 on seniority roster. Huge knowledge base on board this special train.

Interesting that a long train like this - made up of what looks like just ordinary Amfleet 1 cars - mostly traveling a route that one could ride any day of the week, can sell out no problem compared to the recently cancelled 765 trips out of Chicago.  Small windows, no open vestibules of course, and a sold-out train.

Backing into Wilmington shops for a tour. How great is that? Worth a trip from The west coast in my opinion!

Enjoying the journey.

not really comparable at all. How long were tickets on sale?

AEM7 number boards are being carried through our train. Souvenirs?

765 isn't being pulled out of service and retired. The AEM-7's are. Big difference.

I know that quite a few fans are riding becuase of the tour of the shops and the opportunity to photograph locomotives in the shops.
If I lived back east, I'd probably be riding

If I may.  When this trip was announced I thought about it for a few days and then decided to go.
I was disappointed that the 765 trip was announced with little lead time. I would have chosen the 765 trip over the AEM-7 trip if I could have. It appears that I made the correct decision.  As someone else stated this was a farewell trip. I look forward to riding behind 765 in the future.  Can't say the same for the AEM-7's.

Anyone on board could enter into a draw to buy them.
